A journey from the 1st Alumni Meet at FC&RI, Mettupalayam to a legally registered, democratically elected alumni body — reuniting forestry graduates after 38 long years.
The collective effort that brought together generations of FC&RI alumni.
MEFGAA originated from the collective efforts of alumni from the Forest College & Research Institute (FC&RI), Mettupalayam, who came together to formalize a strong and active alumni network.
The foundation was laid on 13th January 2024, during the 1st Alumni Meet held at FC&RI, Mettupalayam under the able guidance of the then Dean and our beloved alumni Dr. A. Balasubramanian, after 38 long years.
The 2020 batch students were roped in for coordinating the individual batches starting from 1985 to 2019 — totally 34 batches — wherein individual WhatsApp groups were initiated. Dr. V. Priyanka coordinated the entire process for the Alumni Meet.
At the alumni meet, Thiru. V. Thirunavukarasu was unanimously nominated as Interim Committee President, while Dr. V. Priyanka was nominated as Interim Committee Secretary. This marked the beginning of a structured journey to form a legally registered alumni society focused on professional collaboration, community support, and institutional development.

A dedicated fund created by MEFGAA to economically support B.Sc. (Forestry) students at FC&RI, Mettupalayam — for tuition fees, mess bills and study tours throughout their course.
SELF (Students Educational Fund) is created for economically supporting students at Forest College and Research Institute (FC&RI), Mettupalayam during the period of their course.
B.Sc. (Forestry) students from 1st year to final year — covering the period after six months of admission up to the final year examination.
Direct bank transfer to the college / mess account only.
The total interest earned during the previous year is equally divided across all four batches.
A student may receive SELF support for up to two years on the recommendation of the batch coordinator. For 3 or 4 years of support, the recommendation of the Dean is required in addition to the student application and coordinator recommendation.
A three-member committee constituted for a period of three years, with the following responsibilities:
This SoP shall be revised once every 5 years by the Executive Committee of MEFGAA. Recommendations from the SELF Management Committee shall be considered during revision.
It is expected to collect ₹10 lakhs as SELF corpus and equally increase Life Members to 200 — collecting ₹20 lakhs more. The total ₹30 lakhs at ~6% interest yields ~₹1.8 lakhs/year, supporting ₹45,000 per batch per year.
The course coordinator must recommend the student for tuition fee / mess bill / study tour support, certifying:
How MEFGAA stands beside families in grief — a respectful, structured procedure followed when an alumnus passes away.
As soon as the demise of any alumnus is confirmed in the group, the respective batch mates are informed to verify the news and share with the Executive Committee — including the person's address, where they last worked, and details about the family and children.
A condolence meeting is convened with the President of MEFGAA as the Chairman of the meet.
Friends and close associates of the deceased are invited to speak — three minutes each — to share memories and tributes.
The condolence meeting is conducted by the Secretary of the Alumni Association.
During the meeting itself, it is conveyed whether the family requires financial support. Any amount already spent (for cremation or other purposes) is openly informed to the group at that time.
If three days are sufficient to collect funds for the family, the group is updated on the total amount collected, and it is handed over to the deceased's family in a timely manner.
MEFGAA stands as one family. We honour those who walked before us and stand beside the families they leave behind.
Declared 1st June 2025 — leading MEFGAA into its next chapter.
